  1. Creative Options for Holden’s Psychoanalysis Project Mr. Eisner Room H43 May 12th, 2014

  2. iMovie • Use iMovie to create “A Day In the Life of Holden Caulfield” where he reflects upon his experiences in the novel and explain (like as if in a journal entry) what he was going through to provide insight as to his actions, motivations, etc. • Or, create a film in which Holden goes to visit a therapist and talk about what has been bothering him.

  3. Comic Life • Use Comic Life to illustrate some of the major events of the novel and to go deeper into what Holden was thinking.

  4. Comic Life

  5. iPhoto • Use iPhoto/ Photoshop to create a photo album of some of the major events in Holden’s life and use that to talk about why they were important.

  6. iPhoto

  7. Garage Band • Use Garage Band to create a podcast of Holden speaking (as if in a journal) about his experiences over the few days of his life in the novel. • Or, use the program to interview Holden and have him reveal the types of things he was experiencing. • You may also create a play list (excerpts only) that Holden would put on any time he feels “lousy”. Each song should be no more than 30 second clips, and you should be able to (from Holden’s perspective) talk about why each song is important. Cite quotes.

  8. Garage Band

  9. Microsoft Word • Use Word to write “Chapter 27”: What happens to Holden after he gets out of the psychology ward of the hospital. Your writing must be at least 10-12 pages (3 pages minimum per group member), and you must bring in copies for the class to read when you present.

  10. A Digital Play • Use Celtx to write a script and perform your play using iMovie, PowToon, GoAnimate, or other program. You can include characters like Jane, Edward Morrow’s mother, Holden’s parents, Mr. Spencer, Mr. Antolini, Phoebe, Allie, DB, etc. Perhaps you interview some of these characters now that Holden is in the psych ward. Perhaps you interview Allie about his feelings on Holden’s holding on to your death. Perhaps you are DB and are on your way to pick up Holden and you mention some things from his past/ your thoughts on his dropping out, etc. • …Tell their perspective of Holden!

  11. Celtx

  12. PowToon!

  13. Go Animate

  14. Requirements… • Whatever you do, you must • Use a digital format • Work together as a group • Keep your presentation to 5-10 minutes • Participate fully • Demonstrate an understanding of Holden Caulfield the character • Utilize the informational documents provided you • Show creativity and enthusiasm • Be ready to perform on time

  15. You Should Not… • One of the main emphases for this project is that it be CREATIVE. • It is not suggested that you use PowerPoint or Prezi. Those are not creative platforms, for the most part. If you do use one of those platforms, you risk earning a low grade in the “Creativity” department.
