What Can We Do For Our Nation?Appeal to God for Ultimate Intervention Psalm 44:1-3 – overriding theme: God is Sovereign He moves among the nations “He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others” (Daniel 2:21, Rom. 13:1-5). “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.” (Proverbs 21:1) BE PEOPLE OF INTENSE PRAYER!

  4. 1. Remember His Works to the Next Generation – vs. 1 His works in your life – salvation, answered prayers, opportunities to serve His works in American history * Gov. William Bradford, Mayflower Compact* Preamble to the Declaration of Independence“Great are His works; they are studied by all who delight in them” (Psalm 111:2).

  5. But How Does He Work? A) For Those Who Wait on Him “God works for those who wait for him” (Isaiah 64:4). B) He Builds Homes - “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). C) He Gives Growth -“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” (1 Corinthians 3:6–7)

  6. 2. Remember to Seek His Favor! Vs. 3 – Not our doing… but by “His favor!” Examples of God’s intervention in WW II* miracle at Dunkirk, May-June, 1940* first battle of El Alamein, July, 1942* D-day, June 6, 1944, Allies landing at Normandy “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7).

  7. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 "If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Translated and applied: serve America by humbly turning to the Lord yourself!
