  2. Here are some tips to make sure you are an honest and authentic salesperson:

  3. If there are two versions of yourself, the salesperson and a civilian, people will see that as disingenuous. There must be only one true you.

  4. Relate to people exactly as your honest self. Imperfections are not flaws that make it impossible to work with you. It’s the opposite. It’s the fact that your willing to be transparent, which is seen as a vindication that you are a genuine article.

  5. Tell your clients what they don’t necessarily want to hear. They may be upset in the moment of truth, but you will stand out when the dust clears.

  6. Always carry yourself with pride. - Some can work the books and others can make the factory hum, but as the IBM founder Tom Watson said, “Nothing happens unless a sale is made.” And you are the one who makes that happen.

  7. Prospects are not really doing you any favors by making time to see you. Always view it as their lucky fortune to see me. Bring ideas and solutions, experience and knowledge.
