Key points • The standards define the skills that students are expected to know and be able to do, not how teachers teach. • The standards must be complimented by a well-developed, content-rich curriculum. • The goal of the standards is to articulate the fundamentals, not to list a set of restrictions. • The standards do not define intervention methods or materials/resources necessary to support students who are below grade level expectations.

  8. Reflect • Use the guided questions to reflect on the new common core standards. Basically where are we and where do we need to be.
