  7. Five years from now, what will a news organization look like? Will it be post-corporate? Non-profit? Funded by the government? Community based? User generated? How do you see people getting their news? Will it be mobile? Through Facebook? Will it be “push” media via your friends? Will it be socially received, like Mashable predicts? Instructions: You, along with 1 classmate, are to design your “ideal” model for news. Factors you must consider: a)     What will the delivery method be? b)    What is your revenue model (i.e. how does this plan sustain itself)? c)     Who is your audience? d)    What does the content consists of (i.e. is it broad-based, niche, etc.)? e)     How are the traditional principles of journalism molded and applied to your model? Presentation Format: a verbal presentation & poster board outlining your ideal model of journalism.  The focus of the presentation should be your verbal explanation of your model so as to fuel class discussion. The poster board should be a creative, visual representation of your model. Use images & graphics as well as text, and keep your text short—stick to keywords and single-sentence bullet points. DO NOT READ OFF OF YOUR POSTER! Talk directly to the class. Explain things in your own words. Keep your presentation short! 5 minutes MAX. Hit the big ideas. Practice ahead of time! After all the groups present, the class will vote on one that will be presented during the large lecture. Grading: This will be based on the creativity, plausibility of implementation, as well as personal reflection on what this means for journalism and how you feel about the model as a whole.
