  1. TimeTech’s status of SATRE ModemManufacturingSW UpdateMobile Calibration Station 26th meeting of the CCTF WG on TWSTFTGUM, Warsaw, 7-8 June 2018 Wolfgang SCHÄFER, Thorsten Feldmann, Shuo Liu TimeTech GmbH, Stuttgart, Germany www.timetech.de wolfgang.schaefer@timetech.de xx49-711-678-08-0

  2. Content • Modem manufacturing, Availability • Software update and SW Status • Mobile Calibration Station TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  3. SATRE Modem Manufacturing, Availability In Stock: • Modules for approx 80 units • Full Manufacturing until 2022 (20 / a) • Parts and Spares availability: 2025 • Maintenance: beyond 2025 Digital modem: • on hold due to poor C/No, low priority • Design by TL: cannot be commercialised due to licensing issues • Still deemed an important development Successor: • Introduction 2025 to 2030 • based on ACES-MWL Design TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  4. SATRE SW Status and SW Updates Problematic • hang condition with re-boot • NTP sync failures Root cause: • LAN driver in new processor Vortex86 Solution: • Use old LAN chip located on IIOTIC module • This interface was disabled some years ago, now reactivated • Requires BIOS and SW-Update TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  5. SATRE rear LAN interface LAN shall be in left-most module, IIOTIC Please contact us for details and support TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  6. SATRE SW Version information • 3 types of processor module involved • Lastest software, configuration, maintenance manual, recovery tools found on ftp.timetech.de (user: upjump, pw: SATRE2013) TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  7. Mobile Calibration Station Status • 1 Station fully operational and maintained • Next EU calibration trip planned for 2019 • 1 Set of spares How to proceed (to trigger thinking) • Station could be taken over by an NMI. TimeTech will maintain. • One new station could be built from spares for redundancy. TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  8. Whats next? • Dedicated Ground station design (thermal stabilisation) • Higher bands: potential50 GHz to 200 GHz • Wide-band Modulation. Up to 5 GHz • µWave show tolerance to clouds • Advantage over free-space laser links • Active element needed on board at levels of 1E-17 and beyond • Simulations for GEO: 1E-18 @ 1 day feasible TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station

  9. Mobile Station has 1 defined Interface, at which calibration takes place. (input) Relation of Interfaces to UTC(k) is lab responsibility: “Determine, which time goes into the cal station” Note: pps signals from labs are different. Here we ensure, that pps entering Cal station is always the same TimeTech status: SATRE Manufacturing, SW update, Mobile Calibration Station
