  2. Welcome to 1st Grade! • I will introduce you to our 1st grade classroom • If you have any questions during the presentation, please feel free to raise your hand, and I will call on you

A Little About Me • My background • I’m from St. Joseph, but live in Savannah • I attended St. Patrick Elementary School, Central High School, and Missouri Western State University • My interests: • I enjoy watching football and basketball • In my spare time, I like to scrapbook, read, and take pictures

  4. My Goals • To provide a fun learning environment • To be available to help students achieve their own personal goals • To build relationships with students and parents

  5. Reading and Writing • Some books we will read: • Rainbow Fish • Morris Goes to School • Frog and Toad are Friends • We will write: • Reflections • Summaries • Journals

  6. Math • We will learn: • To add single digit numbers • To subtract single digit numbers • The difference between odd and even numbers • To read whole numbers up to 100

  7. Science • We will explore: • Animal habitats • Basic health facts and the food pyramid • The effects of weather • How to make observations and record data

  8. Social Studies • We will focus on families: • Differences in families around the world • The ways they work and live together • How families lived in the past and how they live now

  9. Classroom Rules • Our class rules are: • Treat others how you want to be treated. • Clean up after yourself. • Be respectful to teachers, classmates, and guests. • Always raise your hand to be called on.
