Tips when Packing • Formal and informal clothes • comfortable shoes • rain gear and sweaters • electrical appliance: buy adaptor in US • pack so you can carry everything yourself; take 2 suitcases • medicine, extra glasses, contacts, prescriptions • alarm clock • passports and tickets: make copies • Euros, credit card(s): VISA or MC/ watch for charges! • Laptops, cameras etc. • Check for size and weight restrictions of luggage

When we are in Germany • Stay with the group at all times unless pre-arranged differently • be prepared to walk lots and fast • be absolutely on time • be prepared to spot Dr. Cothran at all times, even in large crowds • watch out for pick-pockets (z.B.in Berlin) • remember that you represent Georgia Tech and the United States to the Public; alcohol; • Rules on dispensation form the program; • Telephone: use calling cards; never call from a hotel • you may want to get a cell phone in Germany

Next Steps • Payment schedule: 2nd payment due: Monday, March 15th (exception: financial aid) • OIE meetings; German LBAT next mtg: Wed.,April 14th • Check Passports etc. make copies!! • REGISTER FOR COURSES; pay tuition • book all flights; see next slide • Apply for the Campoamor Scholarship • make plans for free weekend (rail pass?) • make sure I have everyone’s correct address & a tel.#, e-mail • meet in Germany/ Weimar at train station on Sunday, May 30th, at 3pm • leave a list of: name – departure date- Düsseldorf option

International travel arrangements • If you go directly to Weimar, book a flight to Frankfurt/ Germany (you will arrive the next day); • leave on May 29 for arrival on 30th • Return from: Munich airport • Going from Frankfurt to Weimar, book a train on-line from Frankfurt/ Flughafen to Weimar: www.bahn.de • Try to take an ICE without stops • Meet in Weimar Hauptbahnhof at 3:00p.m. • on Sunday, May 30th
