  6. Capital: Bucharest • The largest city in the country • Industrial, cultural, and financial center of Romania • 1,944,367 people in the city • The sixth largest city in the European Union

  7. Peles Castle • Located in the western Bucegi mountains (an hour away from Bucharest) • Built by King Carol 1 in the 19th century as the royal family's summer home • Has many historical artifacts

  8. Bran Castle • Vlad Dracula's medieval fortress castle • Built in 1377 to protect nearby Brasov from invaders • Wasn’t often used by Dracula

  9. The Black Sea • Has an area of 422,000 km² • Maximum depth is 2,210 m • Most important river that flows into the Black Sea is the Danube River.

  10. Mamaia Beach • Biggest seaside tourism resort in Romania • Located near Constanta city • Erosion is a problem at the beach • Has had harsh storms in the past

  11. Putna Monastery • Romanian Orthodox • Built in medieval Moldavia, by Prince Stephan the Great, in 1466 • It was rebuilt in 1653

  12. Cuisine • Influences come from: Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria • Most popular dishes are: -musaca -ghiveci - ardei umpluţi

  13. Language: Romanian • Spoken by 24 to 28 million people • It’s a Romance Language • Has an official status in: Romania, Republic of Moldova, and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in Serbia.
