Nikolai Yezhov – “Commissar for State Security” Senior official of the Soviet secret police under Stalin. -Assisted in the Great Purge of the Communist Party. -Was TOO POPULAR with the Party members, Stalin got suspicious. -Arrested and accused of being a spy and plotting to assassinate Stalin. Sent to a work camp. Executed secretly in 1940.
