  3. Location • Afghanistan is a landlocked country that is located in the center of Asia. It is bordered by Pakistan in the south and east, Iran in the west, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the north. • Afghanistan is slightly smaller than the state of Texas. Afghanistan is bounded on the N by Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

  4. Government and military • Government type is Islamic Republic. In June 2002 a multiparty republic replaced an interim government that had been established in Dec. 2001, following the fall of the Islamic Taliban government. • The War in Afghanistan, which began on October 7, 2001 as the U.S. military work Operation Enduring freedom.

  5. Capital • Kabul is over 3000 years old. Kabul is the capital and largest city of Afghanistan. • Kabul’s main products are war supplies, cloth, furniture, and sugar.

  6. Languages • The most common languages spoke in Afghanistan are - Persian and Pashto . Persian is spoken by about 50% and Pashto is about 35%. Pashto and Persian are the official languages of the country. • Other Languages spoken include Turkic Languages 9% and Balochi , Nuristani, Pashai ,Brahui, Pamiri , Hindko, etc are 6%.

  7. Religion • In Afghanistan, most people are Muslims. The rate is 99%. A Muslim is related to the religion of Islam. Muslims believe that there is only one God, translated in Arabic as “Allah”. • Most Muslims consider making ritual prayer five times a day. There is also a special Friday prayer called “ jumuah”.

  8. Flag • The flag is formed by 3 different types of color, they are black, red, and green. • In the middle (red) there is the Afghanistan symbol, they call it a “Mehrab”.
