  2. My name is Barbara Abell The classroom was my home as a teacher… Until I discovered a new world opening for students and teachers…

  3. The virtual world of learning

  4. It started with the first year ofGeorgia Virtual School • Developing and teaching French 1 and 2 • Co-developing Spanish 1 and 2 • Being named World Languages Teacher of the year and • Being named Georgia Virtual Teacher of the Year.

  5. Each of the 10 years since has been challenging and fulfilling, with great students and so many new adventures as virtual learning has developed.

  6. Moving around a bitI have: • Taught middle school French, Spanish and ELL • High school French, Spanish and ELL • Taught K – 5 Spanish and ELL

  7. Moving around a bitI have: • Developed ELL courses • Developed French 1 and 2 for University of California approval for a California charter school • Served as Coordinator of World Languages for charter schools in 5 states and India

  8. And what has been the best part of it all? un

  9. Working with students and watching them succeed in learning a new language…which literally boosts your brain to grow and enriches your life.

  11. Where can you speak French today? French is spoken officially in 33 countries, On all 5 continents, And on more than 20 islands around the world
