  9. Contraindications regarding Steam Therapy • 1. Do not give steam therapy to pregnant clients. • 2. Not recommended for those who have high blood pressure, heart disease, or other cardiovascular problems. • 3. Do not give steam therapy to clients who are extremely frail, sick, or elderly. • 4. Do not give steam therapy to clients you suspect may be drunk or under the influence of non-prescription substances.

During the Treatment • Length of Steam Treatment • 10-20 minutes to raise body’s core temperature • Receiving the treatment • Application of treatment products as required. • Avoid dehydration by having a drink of purified water before and after the steam therapy. • Lie on either back or stomach, roll over mid-way during the steam bath for even steaming. • Completing the treatment • Cool-down gradually after 10-15 minutes of steam. • Body wash after steam with cool neck towels. Don’t shower for 1-2hours.

During the Treatment cont. • Finishing the treatment • Treatment ends with a period of rest. • Transition time between the treatment and your return to your daily routine. • Follow health care plan including concepts, principles, methods for nutrition, exercise and psychology set by the practitioner.
