  8. Security Awareness Bulletin Please circulate this announcement to others at your branch as appropriate.

  9. SHRINK • Shrink is defined as the loss of inventory due to external theft, employee theft, vendor fraud and administrative errors. It occurs in all types of business throughout the world. • In 2011, retailers worldwide lost $45.3 billion due to shrinkage. To put this in perspective, this is roughly the GDP of Uruguay.

  10. Source of RETAIL Inventory Shrinkage..

  11. How does Shrink impact Ferguson, your branch and you? • Shrink directly impacts the bottom line profits. For example, if a branch has a 10 percent profit margin, you would have to sell an additional $1 million to simply recover or break even on a $100,000 inventory shrinkage, theft or loss! This is on top of your normal sales.

  12. What we can do… • It is every associate’s responsibility to prevent controllable shrink and report incidents to your supervisor or Security. All incidents will be addressed quickly and thoroughly. If you choose to remain anonymous, you may report incidents through the Speak Up reporting line: 1-877-467-9581.

  13. A few security tips to prepare your property for the holiday season: • Check the fencing around your property and repair existing holes or gaps. • Check your night lighting; good lighting is the single best and most cost effective burglary deterrent. • Lock high value product inside and made certain that nothing shiny has been left outside to attract attention. • Secure your vehicles within the locked yard area with vehicle keys and fuel cards secured inside the building.
