  5. pretentious (adj.) • having or showing the quality of people who want to be regarded as more impressive, successful, or important than they really are • Synonyms: conceited, ostentatious, pompous

  6. verbose(adj) • given to wordiness or contains more words than necessary • Synonyms: wordy, long-winded, rambling

  8. rancid(adj) • Having a rank smell or taste • Synonyms: odious, foul, nauseating, rank

  9. Homework- Due, tomorrow! Write an original sentence using each vocabulary word. -Make sure each sentence contains context clues that hint at the word’s meaning: Failure to do so will result in a lower score. -Circle the vocabulary word and underline the context clue(s) in each sentence.
