  2. Dates: • STEP 1: • If you have not spoken with a sponsor and had your project approved, you are already behind!!!!!!!!! • Where do project ideas come from? • What’s a good project idea? • Why do project ideas get rejected?

  3. On Line Registration Rules • Go to http://www.pjas.net/region1c • Type in your username and password OR click on forgot password OR New Student Account • Use your old username if you have one on my list. ALL PASSWORDS WILL BE: bensalem14

  4. More Dates • December 13th, 2013: All projects requiring special forms must have all forms submitted by this date. • December 19th,2013: Last day to submit forms for all other projects. All forms must be complete, dated and signed. If your forms have problems on this date you will not be able to participate. • December 19, 2013: Last day to submit registration fee. Please submit as a check made out to BHS for $20.00. This is for PJAS regional and expenses.

  5. EVERY Project needs Forms – • PJAS Registration Form (on wikispace) • PJAS Regional Medical form – 1 copies needed • PJAS Permission Form (on wikispace) • Adult Checklist • Form 1A– Your research plan, hypothesis, and bibliography MUST Be Attached to this!!!! • Form 1B – Must be dated and signed.

  6. Human Behavior Forms— • In Addition To all other forms— • Form 4 and Human Consent Form Example Needed • Microbiology Experiments • In addition to all over forms • Forms 2,3, and 6A

  7. Where Can I Find All These Dreadful Forms??? • On the PJAS website and • Bhspjaswikispace: (http://bhssciencedept.wikispaces.com/PA+Junior+Academy+of+Science) • You can get to this via my schoolwires page or my wikispace.

  8. Keys To A Winning Project • Get Started Early • Make an appointment to stay afterschool with Ms. Gallagher or Ms. Jackson • Mr. Bates is available under special circumstances. If you need his help, you will need to be very respectful and prompt and come ready to work.

  9. Project Verification: • If you do not do your project afterschool with a member of the BHS faculty, you must • Provide photographic evidence of your work throughout the project. • This will include you in the picture with your specimens as the project procedures. This does not mean one shot of you, but several of you as you do the project. • Any student who is found to have falsified data or to have plagiarized any part of their project will not be able to present at PJAS.

  10. All Projects Must Include: • Title, • Problem Statement, Hypothesis/Prediction, • Theory: background Info • Methods and Materials, • Data Collection, • Analysis, • Conclusion and IN THE FUTURE

  11. Great Projects Contain: • Only One Variable • A Control Group • Several Trials • Data Analysis (Data Tables, Graphs, Statistical Analysis of some type) • A large specimen sample

  12. Dates and Deadlines • December 13, 2013: Last day to submit your procedure • Your procedure CANNOT BE, a link to a project you found. I need evidence that you have read through and understand your project… It must be in your own words, produced by you and must include--- • a detailed materials list and a step by step procedure. • exactly what you plan to do, and • how you will measure your data and how you will analyze your data.

  13. BHS, PJAS, Rules and Regs • You must clean up absolutely everything that you touch. • This includes: PJAS books, Computers, Equipment, Glassware • Everything you move from its place in the BHS Science Department, must be put back!!!! • Anything you bring in from outside to do your project, must be taken away. • Anything you keep in the refrigerator or in the plant room must be removed and the area cleaned when you are finished.
