Who should come to PVA? • Students who want a different and unique learning environment. • Students who want to be college or work force ready when they graduate. • Families who want to school their children at home, but want the support, rigor and accountability of a public school. • Students who want to learn time management and organizational skills.

  4. Profile of a Successful Student: • Enjoys working independently and problem solving • Desires success • Communicates via all electronic means • Advocates for him/herself and asks for help • Meets deadlines and adheres to timeframes and follow instructions

  5. Profile of a struggling online student: • Thinks this will be easier than regular school • Wants to hide from your teachers • Does not have easy, reliable access to a computer/internet • Not self-motivated • Lacks organization • Not an independent learner

  6. Our Building Schedule • Our schedule is a combination of online and face to face engagement with teachers and other support staff. • In building time each week for mini lessons and labs. • Student tutors in building daily.

  7. Our Yearly Schedule • K-5 grades - Achievement and progress goals monitored quarterly. • 6-8 grades - FuelEdcurriculum on a semester schedule. • 9-12 grades - FuelEdcurriculum on a quarterly schedule. • Follows MCSD calendar.

What a School Day Looks Like • K-5 – The curriculum provides a daily schedule to be followed. • 6-8 – Teachers and parents provide scheduled time frames in which to complete daily assignments. • 9-12 – Teachers and parents provide scheduled time frames in which to complete daily assignments. • K-12 - Expect to spend 5 hours each day in school.

  9. Parental Involvement • At all grade levels and academic levels, parents are expected to actively participate and monitor their child’s progress and grades. • K-5 – Serve as primary instructor for students. • 6-12 – Serve as primary monitor for student’s progress and grades.

  10. Assessment/ICAP • All District and State Assessments are mandatory. A schedule will be provided and updates will occur as needed. • Follow mandatory ICAP deadlines and instructions.
