Scouting: Fun with a purpose • Scouting… • Develops leadership skills • Teaches duty to God and country, others, and yourself • Promotes character development, spiritual growth, and good citizenship • Develops personal confidence and self-worth • Utilizes activities designed to prepare boys to make ethical choices and strive to achieve their full potential • Is about doing your best!

Cub Scout Organization • The Pack… • A group of boys in grades 1 through 5 and their adult leadership • Chartered (sponsored) by a local organization • Divided into “dens” which consist of 6-10 boys in the same grade level • Ranks are: • Tiger (1st grade) • Wolf (2nd grade) • Bear (3rd grade) • Webelos (4th grade) • All Scout activities are age-appropriate

Parent involvement • Parents are the source of Scout leadership • Allows parents to teach by example and be a positive influence on the youth in your community • Scouting helps parents make the most of what little time they have to positively impact their children • Parents should participate in and encourage their boys in their activities and advancements

  5. training • Every boy deserves a trained leader. Trained leaders deliver better programs, retain more boys in Scouting, and have greater satisfaction and confidence in their role. • In-person and online training is offered to ensure a quality program and to keep Scouts safe • Learn how to keep den meetings fun and exciting as well as to identify available resources

  6. Adventure is calling • Cub Scout Day One • Pinewood Derby • Bike Rodeo • Summer Camps • Flag Ceremonies • Pack Olympics • Fall Fright Fest • Rain Gutter Regatta • Fishing Derby • Rocket Launch • Scouting For Food • Pack Campout • Blue & Gold Banquet

Pack information • We are chartered by: (insert chartered organization) • We are part of the (insert district) of the Greater St. Louis Area Council • The Council provides liability insurance to units, literature, tools, training, program schedules and program help, camp facilities, and professional staff guidance • We were chartered in (insert year unit was founded) • We have (insert number) active Scouts and (insert number) adult leaders • Unit oversight is provided by a pack committee composed of parents and leaders who meet monthly • Pack meetings are held: (insert meeting schedule) • Next pack meeting is: (insert date and location)

  8. How the pack funds itself • Two annual fundraisers • Popcorn sales (August-November) • Camp Cards (February-April) • Pack Dues (paid annually) • Selling popcorn and camp cards offers Scouts the ability to pay their total Pack dues

  9. Annual fees • Registration $24 • Boys’ Life Magazine $12 (optional) • Official magazine of the BSA with over 1.3 million subscribers • $1 per month and delivered to your home • Pack Dues $(insert pack dues)
