  2. Epistemoloji felsefenin en önemli alt dallarından biridir.

  3. Epistemoloji sözü bilgi anlamına gelen “episteme” ve açıklama, teori, akıl anlamına gelen “logos” sözlerinden meydana gelmiştir.

  4. Epistemoloji bilginin kazanılması ya da uygulanması yerine doğrudan doğruya bilgi kavramının kendisiyle ilgilenir.

  5. Epistemolojide doğru bilgi nedir, bilginin doğruluğuna nasıl karar verilir, inanç nedir, bilginin kaynağı nedir, bilginin sınırı nedir gibi sorulara yanıt aranmaktadır.

  6. Epistemoloji diğer felsefe disiplinlerinin temelinde yer alır. Çünkü bu disiplinlerin dayandıkları ilke ve kabuller epistemoloji ile oluşturulup temellendirilir.

  7. Epistemoloji ile ilgilenen bazı filozoflar epistemoloji ile ilgilenmeyi entelektüel bir gelişim süreci olarak algılamaktadır.

  8. Örneğin Alman filozof Hegel, epistemolojinin konusunu bir bilincin bir durumdan daha yüksek bir duruma ilerleyişini incelemek olarak ifade etmektedir.
