  7. Physical Topography • Insert wiring plan here

  8. Security • Security of health care data is critical • HIPPA regulations provide specific capabilities and penalties for breaches of security • Balancing convenient (wireless, remote, workstations) access to health care records for clinical staff with security is a major challenge

  9. Security - Requirements • Complete control of the network with central control and monitoring • Virtual Private Network • Encrypted E- Mail capability • Effective, dynamic firewall • Dynamically updated antivirus software • HIPPA compliant functionality

  10. CISCO Solution • Security is an integral part of design, not an add-on • Layered security strategy with each component (routers, switches, routers, remote access points) playing a role • 3 Components • Endpoint antimalware, antiviral software on all hosts • Secure Network Infrastructure • Security management and monitoring capability

  11. CISCO Solution • Dedicated Business-Class Access Router: Cisco 3800 ISR • Prevents unauthorized access to Network and EHR • Filters Internet Content • Intrusion Prevention System • Additional protection against attacks • Wireless Intrusion Prevention System • Detects rogue wireless access points and back door access to network • Incorporated within wireless access points

  12. CISCO Solution • Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) • Manages all wired and wireless access points across the network • Cisco ASA 5510 series Adaptive Security Appliance with 3310 Mobility Services • Engine. • Supports up to 250 VPN connections allowing secure transactions with business partners and remote access to the HER • IPS Functionality

  13. CISCO Solution • Secure Email with Ironport • Encrypts outgoing email • Effortless, default process preventing any patient data from escaping unencrypted • Cisco Unified Communications 500 • Secure EHR Integration • VOIP, Voive Mail • VPN Access

  14. Internet Service Provider • Insert details here • Leased line for maximum security
