  17. THE KINGDOM OF GOD • The Kingdom Is The Reign of God • The Kingdom of God Is The Kingdom of Heaven • The Kingdom Is The Church • The Kingdom Is Our Place of Service

  18. THE KINGDOM IS OUR PLACE OF SERVICE Like Israel, we are a kingdom of priests: Exodus 19:5-6 1 Peter 2:5,9 Titus 2:14 1 Cor 3:17 Rev 1:6; 5:9-10; 20:6

  19. THE KINGDOM IS OUR PLACE OF SERVICE • The priest’s calling (Heb 5:1,4) • The priest’s privilege (Num 18:20; Heb 12:28)

  20. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To be holy And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people: Leviticus 21:1 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. Leviticus 21:6

  21. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To be holy 7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. Romans 14:7-9

  22. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To be holy 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:14-16

  23. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To teach God’s Word 10 And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; 11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses. Leviticus 10:10-11For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. Malachi 2:7

  24. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To teach God’s Word 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20

  25. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To offer sacrifices Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2:5

  26. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To offer sacrifices: Our bodies I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Rom 12:1Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Romans 6:13

  27. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To offer sacrifices: Our bodies 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

  28. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To offer sacrifices: Our possessions But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. Philippians 4:18 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver. 2 Samuel 24:24

  29. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To offer sacrifices: Our thanksgiving/praise 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hebrews 13:15-16Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalms 141:2

  30. THE PRIEST’S RESPONSIBILITIES To offer sacrifices: Our thanksgiving/praise And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. Revelation 5:8

  32. HOW TO ENTER THE KINGDOM • The New Birth (Jn 3:3-5) • Do the will of the Father (Matt 7:21-23) • Be diligent to be found in Him (2 Pet 3:13)

  33. THE KINGDOM IS THE CHURCH • The Words are used interchangeably.… Matt. 16:18; Heb. 12:22-28.

  34. THE SAME BEGINNING DATE Mk 9:1 ....kingdom to come with power. Acts 1:8...power to come with the H.S. Acts 2:1-4.. power came on the day of pentecost.AD.33. But people were added to the church for the first time on the day of Pentecost AD.33.....Acts 2:47. Thus the kingdom and the church came into effect on the same day.

  35. BOUGHT WITH SAME BLOOD The kingdom was bought with the blood of Christ...Rev. 5:9-10. The church was bought with the blood of Christ... Acts 20:28. Thus the church and the kingdom are the same institution.

  36. THEY HAVE THE SAME RULER Christ is the king of the kingdom....Col. 1:13. But Christ is head over the church...Col. 1:18.

  37. SAME TERMS OF ENTRANCE One enters the kingdom by a birth of water and of the Spirit...John 3:1-5. But one enters the church by a birth of water and of the Spirit...I Cor. 12:13.

  38. SAME MEMBERSHIP The Colossians were in Christ...Col. 1:2, which is equal to being in the church...Rom. 6:4 ; Gal. 3:27 ; I Cor. 12:13. But the Colossians had been translated into the kingdom...Col. 1:13.

  39. SAME MEMORIAL The Lord's table was to be in the kingdom ...Matt. 26:29. But the Lord's Table was in the church at Corinth...I Cor. 11:20-27.

  40. “KINGDOM” IN SIX CONTEXTS • Earthly, secular, governmental rule (Matt 4:8) • The concept of "the reign of God" in the Old and New Testaments. When God formally made Israel into His chosen nation, He identified it as His kingdom (Exodus 19:5, 6) • The rule or power of God (Matthew 12:28) • God's reign in heaven. (2 Peter 1:11) • The church: the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 16:18,19), the kingdom of God (John 3:5), (and the kingdom of His beloved Son (Col 1: 13) • The dominion of Satan. (Matthew 12:26)
