Sydney Ports Corporation – Workshop 20 July 2010 • VESSEL ARRIVAL Customs / AQIS / PIA Cargo Reporting Import Declaration Duty Payment Container Dehire Integrated EDI Solutions Commercial Clearance Liaison with importer & transport company for VBS and delivery Rail tagging • INITIATIVES • Customs brokers & International Freight Forwarders are a key link with stakeholders across supply chain • EARLY engagement & communication required to ensure process improvement • Web based solutions OK but preference for integrated EDI • CONTINGENCIES REQUIRED as we increase reliance on technology

Sydney Ports Corporation – Workshop 20 July 2010 • VESSEL ARRIVAL Customs / AQIS / PIA Cargo Reporting Import Declaration Duty Payment Integrated EDI Solutions • INITIATIVES • After 2005 flawed ICS implementation, EDI interface in particular works very well • Import decs with tariff list databases, and EDI links to overseas suppliers / back office links to accounting & other commercial functionality • Time Release Survey – further industry engagement – underbonds duty deferral • Cargo Reporting Compliance – need to identify transhipment vessels

Sydney Ports Corporation – Workshop 20 July 2010 • VESSEL ARRIVAL Integrated EDI Solutions Commercial Clearance • INITIATIVES • Generally working very well • EIDOs – improvements could be introduced through standard email protocols • Email probably the best option until all sectors are EDI capable • Future initiatives require establishment of user requirements

Sydney Ports Corporation – Workshop 20 July 2010 • VESSEL ARRIVAL Integrated EDI Solutions Liaison with importer & transport company for VBS and delivery Rail tagging • INITIATIVES • Vastly improved email communications via 1-Stop • PBLIS to provide predictability in service delivery & eliminate waiting time detention • CEF process requires at least two days free storage to co-ordinate logistics • Rail tagging – positive initiative requires further enhancement / EDI solution • Future initiatives require establishment of user requirements

Sydney Ports Corporation – Workshop 20 July 2010 • VESSEL ARRIVAL Container Dehire Integrated EDI Solutions • INITIATIVES • Detention exception reporting needs empty container park “gate in” EDI data feeds • Concerns about talk of VBS as this likely to result in additional stage moves & costs • Congestion to be avoided through shipping line evacuations of empties • Operating hours to mirror stevedore operations (incl weekends & public hols) • Container detention concessions required in the interim
