  5. What will I be doing in Science this year? • All year we will be working toward the 5th Grade Science EOG. • Each nine weeks we will be learning something new. • 1st nine weeks: Earth’s Landforms • 2nd nine weeks: Earth’s Weather • 3rd nine weeks: Ecology (Earth’s Animals) • 4th nine weeks: Force and Motion (What Makes Things Move)

  7. There are both rules and procedures for this classroom. What’s the difference?

  8. Rules and Procedures • Rules list behaviors that should be followed. • Each one has consequences. • Good consequences for following them • Bad consequences for breaking them. • Procedureslist directions that need to be followed to make class flow easily. • They do not have consequences.

  9. Rules for Science:

  10. Science Procedures:

  11. Entering the Classroom • All students are to line up against the wall outside of the classroom and wait to be invited into the class. • Students should be behind each other, facing the classroom’s IN door. • There will be NO talking in the hallway. • You will greet your teacher before entering the classroom. • Once inside of the classroom, you are to sit down quietly and begin your work.

  12. If you are tardy to class: • If you come to class after the doors have closed, you MUST get a tardy pass. • During Homeroom you can get a tardy pass at the front office. • During class you can get a tardy pass from your last teacher. Too many tardies = a discipline referral.

  13. Getting Your Attention • There is a silver bell at the front of the classroom. • If the bell is rang, you should • Stop talking • Stop working • Pay full attention to the teacher

  14. Need to leave your seat: • You may not leave your seat without permission. • You must raise your hand quietly to ask for permission. • If you wish to leave the room, follow the Restroom procedures.

  15. Bathroom Break • Check to see if there is a bathroom pass available. • If no = WAIT • You must complete the passport in the back of your planner. • Use the correct date, time, and where you wish to go. • Only 1 sheet per 9 weeks. • Raise your planner (not your hand) • Once called on, bring your planner to your teacher for a signature. • Take the bathroom pass with you, return it when you get back.

  16. Intercom • If the intercom comes on during class you are to IMMEDIATELY stop talking and listen. • It could be for the teacher. • It could be about you. • It could be an emergency.
