WWW Germany Learning Goals Student will: • Learn about the Rise of Nazi Germany, World War II, the Holocaust, end of World War II and the Nuremberg Trials • Explore the Cold War and Totalitarian Regimes • Learn about the Reunification of Germany • Learn about the Democratization of the Czech Republic and Challenges • Learn about Relevant Historic Events in the Countries and Cities Visited • Be Exposed to Cultural Traditions and Relevant Literature in Germany and Czech Republic

Tentative Itinerary • Day 1 – Overnight flight to Berlin • Day 2 – Guided Tour of Berlin • Day 3 - Travel to/Day in Nuremberg • Day 4 – Travel to/Day in Munich • Day 5 – Munich – Dachau – Travel to Prague • Day 6 - Day in Prague • Day 7 – Prague/ Travel to Dresden • Day 8 – Travel to/Day in Dresden/Berlin overnight • Day 9 – Day in Berlin • Day 10 - Travel back to Guadalajara

Highlights • Berlin – Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Reichstag, Das Tiergarten, Brandenburg Gate, Memorial of Murdered Jews of Europe, Roma and Santi Memorial, • Nuremberg – Fascination and Terror Exhibition, Documentation Centre, Nuremberg Trials Site – Nazi Party Rally Grounds • Prague – Prague Castle, Jewish Quarter, Charles Bridge, St. Vitus Cathedral and Astronomical Clock, Pinkas Synagogue

  6. WWW Germany – Czech R. Highlights • Munich – Marienplatz, Peterskirche, Olympic Park, Deutsches Museum, Dachau Concentration Camp (outside of Munich) • Dresden – Frauenkirche, Old Town

  7. Security on the WWW Trip • Standard precautions are exercised at all times. • Curfew circa 10:00 p.m. every evening • Rules are designed to protect your children • Buses and Hotel Accommodations are safe.

  8. Costs and Sign Up Dates • Estimated price in USD:  $2,935 to $3,969 (Consider in-pocket money: $500-$600 USD for lunch. This will not be paid at the cashier) • Number of Students: 20-40 students (limited space available) • Teacher Leader: Leo Díaz • Please email Leo Diaz at leo.diaz@asfg.mx if you have any questions regarding the academic program delivered during WWW Germany.

Although the final due date for the first payment is Sep 29, the period between the 23rd and the 29th is “first come, first serve”. • If they are the 41st payment or later, they will be put on a waiting list in the order in which they paid. • No payments at banks will be accepted for WWW trips • All down payments are non-refundable.  Transfers are possible if airline tickets haven’t been purchased yet and the job of finding a student to “buy” the transferred ticket rests in the student/family, not Jocelin, nor ASFG.

  10. If sign-ups surpass the limit, we will consider the remote possibility of expanding the trip or creating another independent trip with the same itinerary.  However, there is absolutely no guarantee that we will be able to do either of these. • After the trip is full or the deadline has passed, the official waiting list is maintained by Jocelin Diaz.  Please contact her directly if a student is interested in placing their name on the waiting list.
