  7. Phoenix-RTOS (5) – vi editor on ttypc

  8. Phoenix-PRIME (1) Software Defined PRIME PLC modem - pure software implementation of PRIME modem (PHY, MAC and DLMS/COSEM CL layers). No DSP extension nor specific hardware required. Full proprietary implementation by Phoenix Systems - extensive knowledge of PLC communication and PRIME protocol details within the company. Contains pure software PHY (preamble detection, modulation, scrambling, interleaving, Viterbi). Runs on optimized/cheap hardware: ARM Cortex-M4 @ 120MHz, 128kB RAM, 128kB FLASH. Portable to other MCUs and CPUs. Compatible with any AFE (Analog FrontEnd).

  9. Phoenix-PRIME (2) Highly optimized FFT and Viterbi implementation. Hot spots in assembler, Software controls Tx/Rx gain, over current and thermal protection, Contains remote software update mechanism (over PLC), Deployment aid and debugging tools available (PRIME traffic sniffer, Wiresharkplugins, post mortem traffic analyser, both online and offline analysis, network simulator, Service Node certification process in progress, Base Node implementation process in progress.

  12. Phoenix Systems – founders (1) • CEO of Phoenix Systems (since 2011), CEO of ATM Software (since 2007). • Graduated magna cum laude from the Department of Electronics and Information Technologies of Warsaw University of Technology (Master’s Degree 2001). • Author of Phoenix-RTOS operating system. • Pursuing an academic career in Computer Science Institute of Warsaw University of Technology being the author or co-author of over 40 scientific papers and articles. • Over 20 years experience in software development, over 12 years experience in embedded systems development, over 7 years experience in highly-skilled engineering team building and management. • Many proposals to work in U.S.A. – from Palm (2007) to take responsibility for operating system development, from D.E. Shaw Research (2007, 2008) to work on operating system for specialized computer for biochemistry. • Pawel’s speciality is innovative technology development and highly-skilled engineering team building and management.

  13. Phoenix Systems – founders (2) Control software for Automatic Dicing Saw: • advanced project developed in years 2002-2003 as IMMOS company for small competitor of DISCO company, • control software (based on QNX) for robot used in production of silicon chips, for high-precision (1 μm) cutting, • development of all software layers starting from device drivers to cutting applications, • robots are deployed in many countries, especially in France (in world leadingvendor of piezoelectric transducers).

  14. Phoenix Systems – founders (3) Exokernel for Health Monitoring System: • cooperation since2001 in development of operating system modules (software stacks) for health monitoring system, • company’s basic production profile is designing and producing of patient monitoring systems and defibrillators, • systems are deployed in many countries around the world - the company is ranked as the one of biggest vendor in Central and Eastern Europe, • developed software modules and successful cooperation allowed to introduce new functionalities and to increase products competitiveness, • vendor intends to use Phoenix-RTOS as the foundation for new generation of health monitoring systems.

  15. Phoenix Systems - founders (3) Image acquisition systems for Prague Asterix LaserSystem: • cooperation since 2000 in development of high-speed acquisition systems of interferometric plasma images, • development of acquisition systems based an analogue cameras (2000), digital cameras (2002) and GigE Vision based IP cameras (2008, 2012), • developed systems are used in experiments led on PALS, • PALS is the biggest laser system in Central Europe used for laser-produced plasma investigations, • a laser-based fusion system has the potential to revolutionize the energy future - LIFE 2020 project.

  16. Phoenix Systems - founders (4) • Graduated from the Department of Mathematics and from the Department of Physics Warsaw University. • In 1989 he completed the PhD thesis in the Center for Theoretical Physics Polish Academy of Science followed by the post doctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California (Research Associate Los Angeles 1989-1991). • Starting from 1993 he was working for ATM (Polish distributor of Silicon Graphics Inc.) on various positions starting from Supercomputing Division Manager and completing as Strategic Projects Department Director and Plenipotentiary to the Board. He was one of the elite group of early adopters implementing supercomputing technology in Poland. His most remarkable achievement was introducing in 1995 the first supercomputer from Poland ever on the prestige list of world wide largest supercomputing installations TOP500. • Starting from 2006 Jacek L. Madajczyk has been coordinating R&D projects within ATM. He initiated creation of the R&D center (CBR ATM-Lab) and acquired EU co-financing of more than 4 million PLN for 5 projects in total. In 2009 CBR ATM-Lab was successfully (break even point after the first year) transformed into ATM Software to commercialize the results of the above mentioned projects and to gain market share in the area of multimedia software products and services. • In the year 2007 Jacek L. Madajczyk initiated creation of the first Special Economic Zone in Warsaw devoted to ICT innovative technologies. In 2008 he acquired more than 70 million PLN of EU co-financing for the realization of the ATM Innovation Center project in the years 2009-2014.

  17. Phoenix Systems - founders (5) • R&D projects completed within ATM Group and co-funded by EU: • TeleArchive – teleradiology archive system to store patients diagnostic images with PACS and RIS interfaces, • mPay – mobile payment system, • MobileTV – technology platform for next generation mobile services (mobile VOD, enhanced user interaction), • DCS (Distributed Caching System)– software for Content Delivery Network, • ATMOSFERA – development and implementation of the ATMOSFERA ITSM suite • Total value of all projects about 8 Million PLN (2 Million Euro) • Total EU co funding of all projects more than 4 Million PLN (1 Million Euro)

  18. Phoenix Systems - founders (6) ATM Innovation Center (CI ATM) project for years 2009-2014: • total value of the project 321 326 000 PLN (more than 100 Million USD), • total EU co-funding of the project 72 320 578 PLN (about 24 Million USD). • CI ATM activities will include, but not be restricted to providing outsourcing services, technological support as well as support for the commercialization process of most advanced ICT technologies, • activities will be correlated with the expansion of the existing ATMAN Telecommunication Center, the available data center floor space will be increased several times and new office building will be completed to provide space for innovative technology companies, • new data center infrastructure will be built effectively using most advanced technologies a good example being energy saving technologies (so called Green Data Center) .

  19. Company strategy • Developing a competitive technological package for embedded systems engineering, • Establishing a good brand in embedded system industry, • Implementation of Phoenix-RTOS in Smart Grid, Smart HAN solutions (in progress), • Implementation of Phoenix-PRIME in next generation smart metering infrastructure: meters, DCUs (in progress), • Implementation of Phoenix-RTOS in other market sectors (military, medicine).
