EMAIL MARKETING STILL HOLDS THE SUPREME Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networking mediums have grabbed all the attention, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that, email marketing still holds the supreme. Marketing experts are aware of the fact that email is a crucial medium to connect with their target audience. However, even those who are aware of the importance are quite ignorant about it. Not anymore, because Canada is bringing the Canada’s anti-spam Legislation (CASL) into force. Many other countries might soon follow this and before the D-day arrives, we decided to brush up certain forgotten aspects of email marketing which will hold good for Canadian audience too.

  2. Get close and personal –Are you still creating an email copy and sending it to your database? Gone are those days of luxury, because if your prospects are in Canada, they will definitely not receive the email and those in other places, will never open it. Get personal and send the mails based on their previous purchase, age, interests etc. Use data segmentation, for better efficiency. Welcome your customers – Yes. This is one of the most ignored aspects of email marketing. You remember to send promotional emails, but forget to send a welcome mail. Now, if you forget the welcome email, then you will have to forget connecting with your clients too. Stop focusing on selling and start connecting. Timing is crucial –This is one of the most important aspects to connect with your customer at the moment of consideration. Study their website behavior and interest. Reaching your customers at the moment of their consideration along with the product being considered will increase engagement. Add value –By adding value, we mean, educate your clients on your industry and not just on your products. It is not necessary for you to offer discounts in your every mail, offer value with compelling content. Let them decide on the frequency –We know that you have a lot of information to share with your customers. That doesn’t mean that you spam your customer’s inbox. In your welcome mail, ask your customers to opt down. Respect their time and allow them to decide at what frequency they want to read.
