  3. How We like to Receive Praise • Student 1- Quality Time and Presence, Verbal Praise • Student 2-Verbal or Written Affirmation • Student 3-Quality Time, Physical Touch • Becky-Verbal, acknowledgement of contributions

  4. How We Give Praise • Student 1-Verbal Affirmation • Student 2- Quality Time and Presence, Verbal Affirmation • Student 3- Verbal or Written Affirmation • Becky-Often written, sometimes verbal

  5. How we like to give criticism • Student 1-Blunt and straight forward • Student 2-Verbal • Student 3- Direct verbal criticism with constructive feedback • Becky-Verbal or through email, work through ways to overcome challenges and give an opportunity to explain

  6. How we like to receive criticism • Student 1- Direct with a discussion for ideas to move forward • Student 2-Gentle suggestions, but to the point. Do not force change • Student 3-Verbal • Becky-One on one, not ambushed, and to the point. Avoid accusations and constant criticism without praise

  7. Challenges and Growth • Please share as much of your challenges and areas for growth as you feel comfortable with • I encourage you to be brave and vulnerable!

  8. What do we bring to the team? • Student 1-Lots of facilitation and marketing experience • Student 2- New ideas, a different cultural viewpoint, strategic thinking • Student 3- Positivity, personal experience, helping first year students find their purpose

  9. FYLI Goals • Student 1-Providing an amazing FYLI experience, empower participants to engage in the community,encourage growth of participants • Student 2- Awareness of student resources, build community within the FYLI group • Student 3- Have 100 FYLI applicants by October 18th

  10. How can we help each other meet goals? • How can our individual strengths work together to help the team meet all of its goals?

Becky’s Expectations • Produce a high quality learning experience that benefits all stakeholders • Open communication • Accountability and Responsibility • Growth • Have an organized, thought out plan for Spring semester by the end of Fall semester • Go into each weekly FYLI session with a polished plan • Praise and compliment your colleagues often!

  13. One to Ones! • Please set these up during my office hours • We’ll meet every other week and as needed • Meant to be a check-in time but can be whatever you want • Student 2 has claimed Tuesdays from 9:30-10 AM
