Which large American city is on three islands? New York City! New York is on Manhattan Island, Long Island, and Staten Island. Most people think of Manhattan when they think of New York City. This is because Manhattan has the tall buildings that New York is famous for. Sometimes people travel from Staten Island to Manhattan by boat. However, most people in New York do not use boats to go from one part of the city to another. Large bridges connect the islands. Trains and cars also use long tunnels under the water to move between the islands. In fact, New Yorkers usually forget that they live on an island.
