Introduction Task Process Resources Evaluation Conclusion

  6. Task We need your help in search of some materials to help us create something that will allow us to get up to the very tops of the trees to discover the magical heeling flower. What could we make…that’s brilliant, a ladder sounds like a great idea . We will have to draw all our ideas down before we begin to build. Come on now lets get started… Navigation Page Introduction Task Processes Resources Evaluation Conclusion

  7. Task • In order to be able to build a ladder the children are going to need to : • Apply a wide variety of thinking strategies to engage with situations and solve problems, and adapt these strategies to new situations. • They will need to explore their environment in search of the materials to build the ladder. • The children will need to manipulate resources to investigate, take apart, assemble, invent and construct the ladder. • With the found materials the children must manipulate objects and experiment with cause and effect, trial and error, and motion. 8. Process Navigation Page STEP 1: To get the magical healing flower, from the high tree tops you will have to build a ladder of some kind from found materials, these can be environmentally natural or house-hold materials. The fairies can not do this by themselves so they are going to need the help from you and your class mates. STEP 2: As the fairies are so small, you will have to help them out, by carrying all the materials and found items, back to a clearing in the enchanted forest, ready to start your ladder assemble. [Teacher notes: Teacher is to read the remainder of the slides out to the class and instruct them further, on what to do.] Introduction Task Processes Resources Evaluation Conclusion

  9. Process…continued But wait…Before you can start you and your class mates will have to research how exactly are going to build the incredibly long ladder… Get the children to draw out how they imagine a ladder will be built, and what they think one looks like. Step 3: You will need to research further information on how to build a ladder. Please click on the ‘Resources’ tab to take you to explore further information. Navigation Page Introduction Task Processes Resources Evaluation Conclusion

  10. Process…continued • Wow what incredible information you all, and the fairies have found. • Step 4: Now that you know information on how to build a ladder, you will need to do some researching of background information on ladders themselves: • When were they first made? • What were they first made of? • Who were the people who first used them? • What are they made from now? • Who uses ladders now in this day and age? • Where can you buy them from? • Again, click on the ‘resources' tab to find the relevant information. Navigation Page Introduction Task Processes Resources Evaluation Conclusion

  11. Process…continued Navigation Page Now that you all have a thorough understanding of how best to build a ladder and a little extra information about them its time to get started… STEP 5: Gather all your found materials, along with some rope, twine, tape, glue and anything else that you can get your hands on. Work with your class to help the fairies build the ladder. Maybe the teacher can split the class up into smaller groups to all work on a different part of the ladder, to make the building process quicker. 13. Evaluation Well done, you have completed the task of building a ladder. But before you can search the tree tops for the magical heeling flower you will need to check with your teacher to see if you have been successful in building a ladder… It needs to be safe, you don’t want to fall off. Does your ladder contain all the essential parts to make a successful ladder? Are all the found materials securely connected together? Is the ladder strong enough to bear weight, how much, how many people and fairies will be able to be on the ladder at once? Once you have answered these questions, and able to tick them off, then you are able to begin to climb your ladder. Navigation Page Introduction Task Processes Resources Evaluation Conclusion

  14. Conclusion Thank you all ever so kindly, without the help from you and your class mates, we would not of been able to build the ladder to get to the tree tops to fetch the magical healing flower, thus without that flower Isabella would still be unwell. As queen of the enchanted fairy kingdom, I would like to thank you all again from the bottom on my heart, and all the other fairies are also so grateful, they are out in the enchanted forests now, attempting to spread their magic so that no matter where they go they will always be able to use their magic forever.
