Week 1: August 12-16 • Abstract- adj. thought of apart from concrete realities, specific objects, or actual instances • Acknowledge- v. to admit to be real or true; recognize the existence, truth, or fact of • Accuracy- n. the condition or quality of being true, correct, or exact • Aggregate- adj. formed by the conjunction or collection of particulars into a whole mass or sum; total • Allocate- v. to set apart for a particular purpose; assign or allot

  3. Week 2- August 19-23 • Assign- v. to give or allocate; allot: • Attach- v. to join in action or function; make part of • Author- v. to originate; create a design for • Bond- n. binding security; firm assurance • Brief- n. a short and concise statement or written item.

Week 3- August 26-30 • Capable- adj. having power and ability; efficient; competent • Cite- v. to mention in support, proof, or confirmation; refer to as an example • Cooperate- v. to work or act together or jointly for a common purpose or benefit. • Discriminate-v. to make a distinction in favor of or against a person or thing on the basis of the group, class, or category to which the person or thing belongs rather than according to actual merit • Display- v. to show ostentatiously; flaunt

Week 4- September 2-6 • Diverse- adj. of a different kind, form, character, etc.; unlike • Domain- n. a field of action, thought, influence, etc. • Edit- v. to collect, prepare, and arrange (materials) for publication. • Enhance- v. to raise to a higher degree; intensify; magnify • Estate- n. the legal position or status of an owner, considered with respect to property owned in land or other things.

Week 5- September 9-13 • Exceed- v. to go beyond the bounds or limits of • Expert- adj. possessing special skill or knowledge; trained by practice; skillful or skilled • Explicit- adj. fully and clearly expressed or demonstrated; leaving nothing merely implied • Federal- adj. of, pertaining to, or noting such a central government • Fee- n. a sum paid or charged for a privilege or professional services

Week 6- September 16-20 • Flexible- adj. susceptible of modification or adaptation; adaptable • Furthermore- adv. in addition; moreover • Gender-n. kind, sort, or class, such as males and females • Ignorance- n. the state or fact of being ignorant; lack of knowledge, learning, information, etc. • Incentive- n. something that incites or tends to incite to action or greater effort, as a reward offered for increased productivity.

Week 7- September 23-27 • Incorporate- v. to put or introduce into a body or mass as an integral part or parts • Incidence- n. the rate or range of occurrence or influence of something, especially of something unwanted • Index- n. something used or serving to point out; a sign, token, or indication • Inhibit- n. to restrain, hinder, arrest, or check (an action, impulse, etc.) • Initiate- v. to begin, set going, or originate

Week 8- September 30-October 4 • Input- n. something that is put in, such as advice, opinion, or comment • Instruct-v. to furnish with knowledge, especially by a systematic method; teach; train; educate • Intelligence- n. manifestation of a high mental capacity: • Interval- n. an intervening period of time • Lecture- n. a speech read or delivered before an audience or class, especially for instruction

Week 9- October 7-11 • Migrate- v. to go from one country, region, or place to another • Minimum- v. the least quantity or amount possible, assignable, allowable, or the like. • Ministry- v. a person or thing through which something is accomplished : agency, • Motive- v. something that causes a person to act in a certain way, do a certain thing, etc.; incentive. • Neutral- adj. not aligned with or supporting any side or position in a controversy

Week 11- October 28 – November 1 • Recover – v. to get back or regain • Reveal – v. to lay open to view; display • Scope – n. extent or range of view, outlook, application, operation, effectiveness • Subsidy – n. a grant or contribution of money • Tape – v. to record or prerecord on magnetic tape

  16. Week 15 - November 25 - 26 • Contrary – adj. stubbornly opposed or willful • Convert – n. one who has been converted, as to a religion or opinion • Couple – v. to join; connect • Decade – n. a period of ten years • Definite – adj. having fixed limits; bounded with precision

Week 16 – December 2 - 6 • Deny – v. to withhold something from • Differentiate – v. to form or mark differently from other such things; distinguish • Dispose – n. to give a tendency or inclination to; incline • Dynamic – adj. pertaining to or characterized by energy or effective action • Equip – v. to furnish or provide with whatever is needed for use

  18. Week 17 – December 9 - 13 • Eliminate – v. to remove or get rid of • Empirical – adj. provable or verifiable by experience or experiment • Extract – v. to get, pull, or draw out • File – v. to arrange in convenient order for reference • Finite – having bounds or limits; measurable

Week 18 – December 16 • Foundation – n. an institution financed by a donation to aid research, education, etc. • Globe – n. a spherical body; sphere • Grade – n. a class or persons or things of the same relative rank, quality, etc. • Guarantee – v. to secure, as by giving or taking security • Hierarchy – n. any system or persons or things ranked one above another

Week 19 - January 6-10 • Identical – adj. being the very same; similar • Ideology- n. the body of doctrine, myth, belief, etc., that guides an individual, social movement, institution, class, or large group. • Infer- v. to derive by reasoning; conclude or judge from premises or evidence • Innovate- v. to introduce something new; make changes in anything established. • Insert- v. to introduce or cause to be introduced into the body of something

Week 20 – January 13-17 • Intervene- v. to come between disputing people, groups, etc.; intercede; mediate. • Isolate- v. to set or place apart; detach or separate so as to be alone. • Media- n. the means of communication, as radio and television, newspapers, and magazines, that reach or influence people widely • Mode- n. a manner of acting or doing; method; way • Paradigm- n. an example serving as a model; pattern.

Week 21- January 20-24 • Phenomenon- n. something that is impressive or extraordinary. • Priority- n. the right to take precedence in obtaining certain supplies, services, facilities, etc., especially during a shortage. • Prohibit- v. to forbid (an action, activity, etc.) by authority or law • Publication- n. something that is published, especially a periodical. • Quote- v. to repeat (a passage, phrase, etc.) from a book, speech, or the like, as by way of authority, illustration, etc.

Week 22- January 27-31 • Release- v. to set free from restraint, confinement, or servitude • Reverse- adj. opposite or contrary in position, direction, order, or character • Simulate- v. to create a simulation, likeness, or model of (a situation, system, or the like) • Sole- adj. being the only one; only • Somewhat- adv. in some measure or degree; to some extent

Week 23- February 3-7 • Submit- v. to give over or yield to the power or authority of another • Successor- n. a person who succeeds another in an office, position, or the like. • Survive- v. to remain or continue in existence or use • Thesis- n. a proposition stated or put forward for consideration, especially one to be discussed and proved or to be maintained against objections • Topic- n. a subject of conversation or discussion

Week 24- February 10-14 • Transmit- v. to send or forward, as to a recipient or destination; dispatch; convey. • Ultimate- adj. last; furthest or farthest; ending a process or series • Unique- adj. existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics • Visible- adj. that can be seen; perceptible to the eye • Voluntary- adj. done, made, brought about, undertaken, etc., of one's own accord or by free choice

Week 25- February 17-21 • Enormous- adj. greatly exceeding the common size, extent, etc.; huge; immense • Forthcoming- adj. frank and cooperative; candid • Incline- v. to deviate from the vertical or horizontal; slant. • Integrity- n. adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. • Intrinsic- adj. belonging to a thing by its very nature

  27. Week 26- February 24-28 • Invoke- v. to petition or call on for help or aid. • Levy- v. to impose (a tax) • Likewise- adv. in like manner; in the same way; similarly • Nonetheless- adv. however; nevertheless. • Notwithstanding- prep. in spite of; without being opposed or prevented by
