  1. TAS 2009 – Year in Review A Presentation for The Angelfish Society Annual Meeting December 12, 2010 Prepared by Tamar Stephens, President

  2. What did we do in 2010? Our biggest accomplishment: • We held the first ever TAS sanctioned, judged, and awarded angelfish show in partnership with the American Cichlid Association!

  3. Thanks go to • Milwaukee Aquarium Society for inviting us to ACA 2010 • Mark Barnett of Aquabid for sponsoring us. His sponsorship paid for all the awards.

  4. Thanks to TAS members who made ACA a success, in particular • Charles Hawks who coordinated everything and was our liaison with Milwaukee Aquarium Society • Charles Hawks for being our featured speaker at ACA 2010 • Ted Santos for tireless work developing a judging form • Our judges: Ted Santos and Frank Grainer • Tamar Stephens for manning the TAS table and assisting with coordination during the event • All the TAS members who entered angelfish and participated in the show

  5. TAS members who contributed to many other TAS activities throughout the year…

  6. Web Master Thank you to: • Don Mitchell for his excellent service as our webmaster, and for doing an outstanding job of keeping our website up to date!

  7. Friday Night Chat Thank you to: • Robert Wright moderating for our Friday night chat sessions despite huge personal obstacles to overcome.

  8. Door prizes • Thank you to the people who have donated door prizes for our meetings, including • Live fish from Ted Santos • Gift certificates from Steve Rybicki

  9. The FinTAStic Crew • Thank you to the FinTAStic crew who put together of our official newsletter: Tony Vaughan, Sarah Smith, Jan Kesler, and Tamar Stephens. • Thank you to everyone who has contributed articles, or has allowed themselves to be interviewed for FinTAStic.

  10. Photo Contest Thank you to: • Sarah Smith, who did a wonderful job with running the photo contest • Mike Troxell, who volunteered to replace Sarah • All TAS members who have submitted photos for the photo contests! • The original purpose of the photo contest was to build a library of photos for use in the Phenotype Library. Ongoing photo contests allow us to continue to build this resource. • The contest also give you a chance to show off your prettiest fish to your fellow TAS members.

  11. Spreading the word about TAS Kudos to: • Ted Santos, who has included free TAS memberships with some of his Aquabid sales! • Chuck Hawks for giving presentations about TAS at fish shows and fish clubs around the country!

  12. Board of Directors • Thank you to the officers and directors of TAS for steering a steady course through this past year, managing the business side of TAS, and for looking ahead to ways for TAS to grow and become more effective.

  13. If you didn’t see your name… • I’m sure I missed some people who have contributed over this past year. Please blame it on my faulty memory, not on lack of appreciation. • So – a hearty thank you to everyone mentioned in this presentation, and to everyone I missed. • And hearty thank to all of you who are members for having the vision to see the value of TAS, and for providing your support through becoming a member.

  14. What’s coming up in 2011?

  15. TAS Angelfish Show at ACA 2011 • The Capital Cichlid Association is sponsoring the ACA 2011 convention, and has invited us to participate again! • Dates: July 21-24 • Location: The 2011 ACA Convention will be hosted at the Crowne Plaza Washington DC-Silver Spring in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.
