  1. VS Eating Healthy Dieting Haley Fister

  2. Outline • Difference between healthy eating & dieting • Types of diets • Why you shouldn’t diet • Why more people are switching • What you can do to switch

  3. Many people see dieting & healthy eating as the same thing, but they are WRONG

  4. Dieting: to restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight. Eating Healthy: consuming the right quantities of food from all the food groups in order to lead a healthy lifestyle.

  5. “Crash” or “Fad” Diets: most common type of dieting. Involves extreme, rapid changes to food consumption. Beverly Hills Diet: eat only fruit & increase selection of foods up to the sixth week. Cookie Diet: Eating pre-packaged, low fat cookies to quell hunger, often replacing meals. Smoothie Diet: replacing all or most of your meals with prepackaged or homemade smoothie. Grapefruit Diet: consuming large amounts of grapefruit at meal times.

  6. Why shouldn’t you diet ? • You’ll never get the exact body you want. • It can create a negative relationship with food. • Only diet for a short amount of time. • Sets you up for failure.

  7. The Switch to Healthy Eating The number of Americans on weight loss plans is at it’s lowest rate in decades.

  8. Why are more people switching ? • Food is your body’s fuel, if you’re not putting in high grade fuel, your body isn’t going to be at peak performance. • Healthy eating is becoming more of a trend. • People are more aware of how they’re bad eating habits can affect them now and in the future.

  9. What you can do • STOP MAKING EXCUSES. • Think about your food choices. • Join a health website or have a friend do it with you. • Get educated about the food you’re eating. • Don’t stress about it !
