  1. How Planning for Success Can Open the Door to Failure Presented by Bill Schoening Even well-planned projects can collapse when confronted with unanticipated and serious systemic problems. In most cases the collapse could have been prevented if the possibility of such problems were thought through in quieter times. Bill examines reasons why we fail to consider program-threatening situations ahead of time, and proposes activities that can help us head off the crisis phase and develop more effective contingency plans. Bill is a Fellow of INCOSE, a Boeing Technical Fellow, past president of INCOSE, a frequent author and speaker on systems engineering topics, and a survivor of several programs that have ended in catastrophic failure. Date: Wednesday 31 August 2005 Location: Boeing Bldg 100, Room 2E St. Louis, MO ( Airport Rd. and McDonnell Blvd) Networking: 11:00 Presentation: 11:30-12:30 INCOSE Members: No Charge Non-Members: $5.00 (Lunch Contribution) No reservation needed, but please call or E-mail Bill Schoening at 314-234-9651 or william.w.schoening@boeing.com if you plan to attend for a count and badging for non-Boeing attendees.
