Mecánicas • Direct Object- words that receive action of verb • Ex: Me, You, Him/Her, Them, Us • Direct Object pronouns:me (me) nos (us) te (you-familiar) os (you-all-familiar) lo, la (him, her, it, you-formal) los, las (them, you-all-formal) • Answers questions “what” or “whom” • Steps: • Identify subject, verb, and direct object • Replace Direct Object with correct direct object pronoun

  3. Mecánicas • Direct Objects in Spanish: • Direct Objects come immediately before conjugated verb • They must match in gender and number • A change in subject does not change the Direct Object Pronoun • A change in gender and number in the Direct Object changes the pronoun

  4. Ejemplos • In English • Carlos has the pencil = Carlos has it • Juan kicked his brother = Juan kicked him • He cleans the dishes = He cleans them • En Español • Carlos tiene el lápiz = Carlos lo tiene • Juan pateó a su hermano = Juan lo pateó • Limpia los platos = Los Limpia
