  1. Theme: Viral infections : Poxoviruses and herpes, their characteristics and laboratory diagnosis .

A place of carrying out of practice, equipment. • - Dept. of Microbiology -to conduct practical exercises: a set of dyes used in staining bacteria -microscopes, pipettes, test tubes, spirit lamps, slides, tripods. culture of microbes grown on nutrient medium,-gun new information technology, equipment demonstrations, slides, videos. • -TCB: Projector, slide, television, video.

  3. Duration of employment • - 3hours (class periods) -135 minutes

  4. The employment purpose • ·        Writing general concept of micro-organisms that cause viral infections, their classification and types of microorganisms that cause viral infections. • ·        Writing a concept on the laboratory diagnosis of viral infections. • ·        Explain the principles of registration in the laboratory journal and technique of taking material from patients. • ·        To provide information on the selection of culture media for culturing pathogens of viral infection and the concept of "identification" of microorganisms and methods of laboratory diagnosis of viral infections. • ·        Writing information on prevention and treatment of viral diseases.

  5. Task of teachers • - Teach students about apart all viruses, to distinguish them from all properties • - Teach students to put the correct diagnosis to the patient • - Give students information about virological and serological studies of viruses that cause influenza and parainfluenza, evaluation • - To provide information about what the culture media need to isolate pure cultures of the above viruses, identification • - To provide information about the prevention of viral diseases

Tasks • Student should know: • ·        Classification and types of microorganisms that cause viral infections • ·        Properties microorganisms causing viral infections • ·        Types and differences from each other microorganisms that cause viral infections • ·        The pathogenesis of diseases caused by pathogens of viral infections • ·        The methods of laboratory diagnosis of wound infections and the rules for their identification • ·        Rules of holding the therapeutic and preventive measures

  7. Tasks • The student should be able to do: • ·        The concept of micro-organisms that cause viral infections, basic properties, differences between them. • ·        You must know the basic properties of microorganisms, classification, basis of diagnosis. • ·        For the diagnosis of sick student should know the methods of laboratory diagnosis and prevention of diseases.
