  1. Reading & Research: Excretory System • Excretion • osmotic, pH • Kidneys • Lungs • Skin • Kidneys • Nephrons • Urine • Ureters • urinary bladder • Urethra • Homeostasis • Dialysis • Glomerulus • Bowman’s capsule • renal tubule • Capillaries • collecting duct • The capillary network that surrounds the renal tubule is the area where molecules that are reabsorbed from the filtrate reenter the bloodstream. This allows the body to take back some useful molecules that were removed during filtration. It also is the area where molecules from the blood are secreted into the filtrate, to be excreted from the body in urine later. • Reduced blood flow to the kidneys could result in a reduced kidney function, reduced output of urine, and an increase in the concentration of urea and other toxic wastes in the blood plasma. If the reduction of blood reaching the kidneys is extreme, it could result in damage to kidney tissues and kidney failure. • SECTION: EXCRETION • D • B • C • A • B • B • E • D • A • C Vocabulary Review (General) • Nutrient • Digestion • Calorie • Vitamins • Minerals • E • C • D • B • A • Excretion • Nephrons • Urine • urinary bladder • Ureters • Urethra
