  3. Pre-K “Explorers” LISTEN – Analyze sounds in words Listen for sounds in the environment Hear sounds in words Play with sounds in words

  4. Pre-K “Explorers” LOOK – Investigate print in your world Identify letters Letters = Sound

  5. Pre-K “Explorers” TALK – Expand your child’s vocabulary Expand your child’s vocabulary Introduce new words to your child in conversation

  6. Objects, Objects Everywhere! Partner #1 choose one word to describe the object. Then pass the object to Partner #2 and they add a word to describe the object. Pass it back and forth. You have one minute to see how many words you can get to describe the object. How many words did you come up with to describe your object?

  7. Pre-K “Explorers” DISCOVER – Explore books with your child everyday Remember what was said or read

  8. H-I-K-E Strategy • Have a comment to share and then wait 5 seconds • Initiate discussion by asking a question • Keep quiet until your child responds • Expand on what your child has said by adding a little more TAKE A HIKE!
