  1. What to expect in Ms. Bartholomew’s class

  2. Procedures • Come in class quietly and begin on your warm-up • If you have something to complete, please do so at this time • If you have work to turn in, please do so at this time • Never turn in work that is incomplete or it will be graded as is

  3. Materials • Please have your own writing utensils and paper everyday • Please have your specified textbook everyday • Please have a novel or other reading material with you everyday • If you do not have a home computer, please get a flash drive to save and upload your essays

  4. Accelerated Reader • All students will check out AR books every two weeks from the school library • If you have limited library privileges, you must get a book from the public library, bookstore or a store that sells books. • To see if a book has an AR quiz, go to www.arbookfind.com and look it up • All books must be logged in by the teacher in order to receive a grade on the quiz • It is your responsibility to remember your log in information! • Remember this is the grade that YOU control so be wise and read your books!

  5. Grading • Papers will be graded in a timely manner and put onto the INow system • Progress reports will be given out approximately every three weeks • Any missing work receives a grade of 0 (zero) until made up • Please make up work as soon as possible after an absence • Any work that is graded with a 1 (one) is a final grade • Grades will be categorized as Major-65% and Minor-35%

Essays • All essays will be assigned on Wednesdays • If you are absent on a Wednesday, it is up to you to find out what your writing prompt was • All essays will be due the following Wednesday and should be uploaded to the www.my.hrw.com website • It is YOUR responsibility to keep up with your log in information! • No late entries will be accepted • Plagiarism will receive a grade of 1 (one) • All essays are major grades and count for 65% of your total grade

  7. Essays • All essays will be graded through the Holt website • Grades given will range from a 1-4 • A grade of Null means you need to add more to your essay • 1=60-D • 2=70-C • 3=80-B • 4=90-A • I will read all essays to see if changes need to made

  8. Behavior • All students are expected to behave respectfully • All uniforms should follow the school and MPS codes • Work that is missed due to a suspension can not be made up and will be assigned a grade of 1 (one)

  9. Goals • Pass the AHSGE • Pass 11th Grade English
