Begin with the End in Mind • Make sure staff is completely aware of the end result. • Identify the negotiables and non-negotiables. • Once the goal is reached, plan for follow-up as well as how and who will manage the end result.
Identify Internal and External Customers • Who from your own department touches it and in what capacity? • What other departments within the District either influence or are influenced by the decision you are getting ready to make? • What other areas outside of the District need to be involved in the process or are affected by the process? • How do I effectively communicate what we are doing?
Identify the Power Brokers • Who is key to have on board for your project? • Who can kill it dead in the water should they be omitted? • How can I leverage their leadership to be a positive influence in the project?
Mitigation • How do I respond to negative exposure from: • Staff • Schools • Parents • Board • Community • Press
