  2. View on current situation in Belgium • Bachelor level: • Basic education on Neuroscience nursing: • Neurology • Neurosurgery • Nursing assesment

Neuroscience nursing education • Course lead by Belgian Association of Neuroscience nurses (BVNV) • Specialised course in neuroscience • 6 x 8 hours of lectures • 2 days conference • ½ day exams • No practice in hospitals (all students work on neuro units, almost no participants of neuring homes or home care)

  4. Lectures • Very medical • Based on knowledge • Not competence based • No reflexion, exept exams wich is based on knowledge • No coaching • No self study • No portofolio

  5. Master in Nursing Science • Very broad education • Not a course for clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner • Work field = managment of nursing department in hospitals or nursing homes

  6. Implementation of Neuroblend • Competence profile is translated in Dutch • = base for the dossier of specialised title in neuroscience nursing in Belgium • Present the ECP to the schools of the neurocourse • Open a discussion with teachers • Future: develop a more competence based training with a portofolio

  7. Repository and cases • Make some courses and try out if it works • In my hospital • In the neuro course • In a workshop of the BVNV • Start with parkinson’s disease
