  2. MENTAL FITNESS Mental preparation is important in many activities. Performers will picture in their mind the task or routine ahead of completing it. This helps the athlete become focussed and completely prepared for their performance.

  3. MENTAL FITNESS A long distance runner such as a 1500m athlete will think ahead of how might they cope with the demands of the race. Breaking the race down into small stages can keep the athlete positive eg. Being content keeping pace with the front runners through the first 3 laps then lifting the pace for the last lap through to the finish.

  4. MENTAL FITNESS Mental fitness is based on – • Concentration = Focussing on the game plan • Confidence = Comfortable throughout • Motivation = Desire to win

  5. CONCENTRATIONCONFIDENCE • Concentration is the ability to stay focused and be fully aware of what is going on around you • Confidence is a positive state of mind in which you feel that you can perform successfully • WATCH CLIP
