1. Society of Petroleum Engineers – Calgary Section Young Professionals November Luncheon Ambiguities and uncertainties; making sense of some of that!! Discussion based on a liquid-rich shale gas simulation study Speaker: Mehran Pooladi-Darvish, VP Engineering, Fekete About the speaker: Mehran Pooladi-Darvish is VP Engineering at Fekete Associates Inc, where he leads the reservoir modeling and simulation group. He specializes in the analytical and numerical modeling of hydrocarbon recovery and reservoir characterization. He has published more than 50 Journal papers including “Best Paper published in the 2000 and 2005 in JCPT ” and the "Distinguished Author Series" in the SPE (JPT) in 2004. Between 1997 and 2011 Mehran was a professor of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary. His research focused on production of gas from gas hydrates, CO2 sequestration in geological formations, cold production of heavy oil and naturally fractured reservoirs. There, he was the recipient of three teaching awards. Mehran worked previously with R.E.R.I. in California and NIOC in Iran. He has appeared as an expert witness at the ERCB. Mehran received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Iran. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta. He is a member of SPE, and APEGA.
