  3. Introduction Who is a Veteran? Veterans are people who served in the military (U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard) in times of war or peace. Do you know any veterans? Maybe it is your mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, grandfather, grandmother, cousin, neighbor, or teacher. You can be very proud of them. Many have given much to keep us safe and free.

  4. Tasks What does Memorial/Veterans Day mean to you? Do you grasp the significance of the sacrifice that American men and women have made to preserve our freedom? To complete this web quest the student will: • Complete the Memorial Day scavenger hunt. • Complete the Veteran’s Day Multiple choice slide. • Answer the following in your own words? What is a Veteran and why should we honor our Veteran’s?

  5. Process To complete this web quest the student will utilize the web from the links provided to complete three separate assignments. All assignments will be completed on loose leaf paper and written in complete sentences. The title of each of the pages will be: • Memorial Day • Veteran’s Day • What is a Veteran?

  7. Veteran’s Day Directions: What do you know about Veterans Day? Explore the Web site given to learn about that national holiday. Then read each statement below. Technology Infusion Plan - 5W/5E Title of Web Quest: Remembering Our Veterans Brief Description: This web quest will explore who is a Veteran, the importance and history of Memorial and Veteran’s Days and why we honor veterans. Who: My targeted audience is all Third Grade students Why: The purpose of this technology is to explore the meanings behind Memorial and Veteran’s Days and to educate the students on the importance of honoring the Veterans. What: The students will get experience learning how to navigate the world wide web to research specific topics When: I will intergrade the technology after the class has learned about: • The basic principles that form the foundation of a republican government • The individual rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; and equality under the law • The contributions of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson; Abraham Lincoln, Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, Martin Luther King, Jr.; and Caesar Chavez Where: This technology infusion will take place in the computer Lab.
