  2. Introduction The Iditarod is a trial with snow on it and people can enter the race. The person has to have at least 18 Husky’s to pull them around the trail. But first you have to have entered the junior Iditarod. The Iditarod has check points. Checkpoints are places were a musher has to stop. Now let’s go to the story.

  3. Mushers Cindy Abbott is a very good musher, but you can’t expect that she’ll win every time, she might lose or scratch. Scratch mean that they have crashed. Cindy Abbott can fall way behind but then come up from behind.

  4. Dogs Dogs in the Iditarod race can be Huskies, Alaskan Malamute, or Siberian Huskies. Mushers must have 16 dogs or more, Because at every check point if there is a dog that is feeling tired or sick and they own more dogs they can switch them out, but if they don’t have any more left they have to just keep going with one less.

  5. Routes There are two routes the real one and the newest one. The newest one is the one we are using now, but the old one we don’t use now because it is so dangerous. So that’s why we don’t use it anymore.

  6. Awards At the end of the IDITAROD the last person will be awarded the red lantern to honor the person since the race is very tough. The first person is awarded a lot of money as the prize.
