General Fieldwork Information • Fieldwork – required clinical experiences that students must complete in order to graduate from MOT program • UTMB – 2 Level I FW and 2 Level II FW • Level I FW - OT 5121 Fieldwork Practicum I in Spring 2013 (Adult PD), OT 6121 Fieldwork Practicum II in Fall 2013 (Pediatrics), avoid goingto the same FW site for both your Level I & Level II FW placements • Avoid FW sites that you have worked, have relatives working
Level I Fieldwork OT 5121 & 6121 • OT 5121 dates: 3/25 – 29/2013, following Spring break (3/18 – 3/22/13) • OT 6121 dates: tentatively 10/21 – 25/2013 • 5 days, 40 hrs, follow your supervisor’s work schedule • *We will try our best to locate fieldwork sites in geographic areas close to your home or wherever you can get free room and board for one week
Level I Fieldwork • Pre-fieldwork to-do-list – *Background check, Immunization (up-to-date TB test), CPR (including infant/child), *Drug Screening • UTMB Dept of OT will provide – professional liability insurance • You are responsible for – Updated or Advanced background check, immunization, CPR, drug screening, personal health insurance, etc.
Level II Fieldwork OT 6900 • Fieldwork site database – Some fieldwork sites only accept students in their 2nd rotation • Choose at least 3 sites and prioritize them • When more than 1 person choose the same site with only 1 opening, decision will be based on – students’ professional behaviors, faculty/advisor’s input, facility interview, drawings if necessary.
Level II Fieldwork • 2 Level II fieldwork rotations, 12 weeks per rotation • Proposed dates – • 1st Rotation : Jan 6 – Mar 28, 2014 • 2nd Rotation: Apr 7 – June 27, 2014 • Level II fieldwork requirements – one rotation must be in adult physical disability, and the other rotation can be either in adult PD, pediatrics or mental health
Level II Fieldwork • When to make request for your Level II fieldwork placements • Out of state/town requests • The process of Level II fieldwork placements • Must send choices of same type of facilities for each rotation, don’t mix them – i.e. 3 choices must be all in adult PD or all in pediatrics, don’t mix them. • You may change your Level II fieldwork requests after your 1st Level I fieldwork experience
