  1. Reciprocal Teaching:You will find this interesting! • By Definition, Reciprocal Teaching is an instructional method that involves guided practice of reading comprehension using four concrete steps • The job of the teacher is to provide modeling, scaffolding, feedback, and cooperate in making efforts of understanding the material that is being taught.

  2. The Four Methods The four concrete steps of Reciprocal teaching are: 1.Clarification 2.Questioning 3.Summary and 4 Prediction

  3. Clarification In this stage, whenever difficult material is encountered, questions should be formatted in order to define and make them easier to understand.

  4. Questioning If a “why” and “how” questions are asked, they should be used to further understand the rest of the paragraph. The questions that arise should start a discussion and additional questions should result in the group in which is being taught. In cases of disagreement, the passage should be re-read.

  5. SummaryStill awake? Thank you for that! In the summary stage, the important details should be pointed out in a way that helps the students get the main idea of the paragraph. This stage solidifies what they just read and gives them a good idea what’s coming in the next paragraph.

  6. Prediction Students are encouraged to make guesses about where the text is going next. This let’s students use their prior knowledge learned in the earlier stages.

  7. Helpful Teaching Tips • Spend sufficient time using this strategy to reinforce skills. • Teach passages paragraph by paragraph and eventually the whole passage will be read without stopping. • Students should be able to ask a relevant question and summary sentence. • Effective when carried out over long periods of time • Role of teacher should so students has the opportunity to lead.

  8. Thoughtful Readers Will… • Using existing knowledge to make sense of text. • Monitor their comprehension throughout the reading process. • Are able to determine what is important in the text they read. • Ask Questions.

  9. Thank You Class… Hopefully, this presentation has taught you a thing or two.
