  1. Romans 7:24-25 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

  2. 1 Thessalonians 5:14 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.

  3. 1 Corinthians 15:57 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  4. 1 Timothy 6:12 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

  5. You Can’t Win This Struggle On Your Own

  6. Accepting Help from God • The Lord is our compassionate High Priest – Heb. 4:14-16 • He was tempted in all points as we are, yet without sin • We are to come to God confidently, without reserve, for two things when we need them… • To obtain mercy • To find grace • It is good to feel bad for doing wrong – 2 Cor. 7:8-12 • Never underestimate the nature of God’s love toward us – Eph. 2:1-10 (cf. Luke 15:11-24)

  7. Accepting Help from God • God is faithful during our temptations – 1 Cor. 10:1-13 • God has demonstrated that He will enable and empower us to endure temptation • If we rely upon our own strength against sin, we will fail and fall (remember Rom. 7:21-24) • If we trust God… • We know that every temptation we face is common to man – we can endure them through Him! • We know that He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to endure – He is protecting us! – Job 1:9-11; Jas. 1:12-15 • We know that with every temptation He makes a way of escape, so that we can endure. He wants us to succeed!

  8. Accepting Help from God • God offers conditions by which we can be cleansed when we do falter and sin – 1 John 1:8-2:2 • It is not a matter of “if” we will sin, it is a matter of “when” we sin • The point is not that we have an avenue to sin with impunity – cf. Rom. 6:1; Heb. 10:26-31 • The point is that we NOT SIN. When we do sin, He is ready with a conditional grace through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ!

  9. 1 Timothy 6:12 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

  10. 1 Corinthians 15:57 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
