  3. Jesus died, to make up with God on our behalf. Jesus makes it easy to come back to God: you receive his forgiveness just by going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. b. You receive God’s forgiveness, when the priest says “I absolve you of your sins” c. The priest tells you to do something to show you are sorry for your sins. Eg say the Hail Mary 3 times. a. Tell the priest things what you did wrong or what you didn’t do but should have. d. Think things through, and feel sorry for what you did. PENANCE. • ABSOLUTION write out the stages in order. label the 5 stages with their proper names. Which stage is the part where the priest makes God’s power of forgiveness real? ** What makes this forgiveness possible? • Examine of Conscience • & CONTRITION • CONFESSION

Examine your Conscience to feel CONTRITION Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned..I have.. • CONFESSION I absolve you in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit • ABSOLUTION PENANCE.

It makes you spiritually stronger – you get God’s strength and courage to resist sin and do what is right • It bring you peace because you are free of guilt. You are also at peace now with those you hurt before. Explain 3 ways how going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation could help the girl. Which of the benefits of the Sacrament would be the most important for you to have? Why? **How often should someone go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation? • It brings you a closer relationship to God – because you know you are forgiven, and friends with Him again.
