NI3 Synthesis and Decomposition Lab Lab Question: Reactants: 0.2 g Iodine crystals 0.1 g KI (potassium iodide) Up to 5mL concentrated ammonium hydroxide (and more to rinse off beaker) Materials: Beaker for doing the reaction in Filter paper Funnel Flask for collecting filtrate Meter stick (you fill out the rest of materials) Lab Report Write the equations for the 2 reactions will do Variables: Independent: Dependent: Procedure: Analysis of Data Conclusion Safety Equipment: Goggles Face shield Ear protection Nitrile gloves Safety Guidelines: The Reaction needs to be done under the hood. Hood fan should be turned on right after reaction The person setting if off should have full safety gear. Other people in the room are recommended to have Ear protection Do Not use more than the listed reactants All unreacted product and materials with residue should be put into the waste beaker/ washed with concentrated NaOH
