  2. 2. What did you like about the Distance Learning experience? Teachers from other districts offer various perspectives and teaching styles. Teachers had high expectations and interesting material. All were cooperative about schedules.I enjoyed the camaraderie between the students from each cooperating school. Since I was a novice, students were helpful with any equipment problemsMeeting new people, sharing concerns or ideas about our school with theirs, comparing psychology and sociology were great.I felt it was a wonderful opportunity and an excellent learning experience. It opened up a lot of doors for our students. I’m looking forward to next year.The opportunities for students learning various subjects, technology and alternative learning environments.   3. 3. What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? Cell phone interference was a daily struggle. The multiple schedules (different bell schedules) and the DL schedule was a problem this year.Not too much I didn’t like. Some technical issues. Too cold in room for me!Sound problems and bad attitudes from other schools’ kids.Too much time off task, 3 different schools, 3 different bell schedules and calendars. The April break was off by a week.Nothing.When a lab experiment is done, my students lose out on the total experience. Always helpful, polite, willing to explain. I never felt I asked a "stupid" question.I thoroughly enjoy calling my friends at BOCES! YES! YES! Though I didn’t get to see Chuck much this year (which is a good thing technically)The success of distance learning is a result of the BOCES support team!   6. 6. What changes would you offer to improve the DL program? My only concern is our scheduled breaks. We compensated by taping classes and have great cooperation from instructors but I wish there was a way to fix that.Our biggest problem was in dealing with sound issues especially from the new hanging microphones.To try to arrange for the DL teachers to visit all schools they teach at on a regular basis.Narrow the schools down by their bell schedule or offer an incentive to those schools willing to change to a DL bell schedule.Things went well this year over all.Ensure that supervision in receiving schools is adequate and broadcasting teacher receives good support from receiving schools.To have all the teachers use email when the host site is far away there is no other way to talk with the teacher except in class.   7. 7. General Comments Will the schools with older equipment be getting outfitted with a new sound panels so they can control their own sound? That would be nice!All schools should give DL priority (students should not have to leave early if the DL class is going on after our bell. I received permission from teachers to keep my students. One Teacher has returned not one paper to my students. We do not even know how things are graded. I received the book when the class was 85% over. Students feel left out. Looking forward to next year!There were occasions when students in receiving rooms were allowed by supervisors to use equipment and cell phones even though broadcasting teacher had asked them not to.
